Helen Carnac

These are the work of London-based artist Helen Carnac. They are enamel...something you don't see often. My mother used to work in this medium, and I remember the magical quality of melted glass glazes on copper. But these are completely different. The colors and the little hint of rustiness and the mark-making are just so beautiful. Her blog is here.

Drawing Project

Here are some drawings I've done today. I think I am being influenced by some change in the light and in the air. There is still plenty of snow lying about, and big, icy, dirty heaps of the stuff on the roadsides, but something says "Spring". So I'm going with that.

Another Closet Visit

Check out that shirt (don't look at that enviable butt)!
I know I already told you about this cool site, but I don't think anyone was paying attention. So here it goes again. I really love the way Jeana Sohn goes into stylish women's homes and closets and shows us what's really in there. It's fun to see how arty, confident women put themselves together. So go over here to check out Closet Visit.

Mark Bradford at ICA in Boston

Mark Bradford
I'm visiting Boston next weekend and I'm making a beeline for this show at the ICA. Mark Bradford's work is showing there until March 13th. This work is  mixed media on canvas, which includes collaged permanent-wave end papers, among other things. You can look at lots more here at art21.
