These are three books I love because they are visual journals. Frida is well known, but the other two authors not so much. Linda Barry just published this great book on the creative process of writing and making art. It really gets to the reason so many creative people get stuck in a hard place.....judgment..those two questions we pose to ourselves..."is this good", and "does this suck"! Dan Eldon was a very young photojournalist who kept wonderful journals. After his death his sister published this moving tribute to a dedicated artist.

Collections

These are letters my parents wrote to each other during the war. They were apart for five years and wrote faithfully to each other. I have never read them because it seems too personal! I am comforted by their presence. I wonder if anyone corresponds this way today. Maybe someday I will read them.

Nice Book

I like this book by Amy Butler so much. It is Amy Butler's Midwest Modern. It is full of ideas and great photographs. I took a shot of my mom's Mexican pottery on a tablecloth I made from Amy Butler fabric. My parents got these wonderful pieces on a trip they took to Mexico and the western states when they were young. I treasure them and use them often.
