I've been under the weather the last few days, so this morning it felt good to get out for an early walk. I like the quiet of early hours before people get going. All the sun has made everything come to life. The Sunken Garden, in the middle of town, is planted in the stone foundation of an old building that is long gone.
The meadow was beautiful and dewy on Sunday morning. It's all happening out there now. Good friends and good food made a Spring celebration. An old wall is getting some plastering. It looks good this way, and the flown tulips fit right in.
We went to Portsmouth yesterday. Everyone was out with their dogs walking around in the sun enjoying the day. We saw some beautiful doors in Strawberry Bank. I don't know what it is about doors that makes me stop to photograph them. Sometimes it's the color or the light or the craftsmanship. I live in my house because of it's beautiful old doors. Maybe it's a poem I once read that said something like "Magic doors...you do not see them even as you are passing through them." I think of doors as being full of potential.
I am an artist working in watercolor, acrylic, and collage. I live in a small village on the coast of Maine. I blog to connect and share my art and my everyday life with others. It's a place where I can touch down to document what I experience as an artist.
