Sophie Truong

This is the beautiful work of Sophie Truong. She uses reclaimed teabags for this body of work, stitching and shaping them and making them into hangings and sculptures. Her art is full of texture and layers of detail. It is so rich. I think all the time that goes into this meditative work imbues them with a unique depth and character. Thank you Sophie for allowing me to share your work here.

Layers2

Here are the next responses for the Layers project Erika and I are doing. Erika's is on top. It is really interesting how we influence each other , and build off each other. I like responsive work because it gives you something that is not you to go on, and that is freeing to me. Erika says the following about why she chose the subject of Layers for our project: " I wanted to work with an idea that could be approached from many directions and media. I think it conjures physical as well as emotional imagery. Also, the process of responding to each other made me think of invisible creative layers being stacked up as each new idea is presented, responded, presented. "

Fresh

I have several bulletin boards in my studio where I pin up images and quotes that make me happy, inspire me, provoke thought, remind me of things I value. Today I freshened it up with some vintage black and white postcards of France and Italy I got the other day for 5 cents each.
