Maine has many talented and accomplished artists and designers. Lisa Dorr is one of them, living and working in Vinalhaven. She makes beautiful clothing and the bed coverings pictured above. You can see her designs here at Le Bouton catalog. I first learned about her at Chelliswilson, a boutique in Portland, Maine, where I saw one of her paintings. Barbara, owner and designer, has created something special where she hosts beautifully curated art and fashion showings, as well as offering clothing of her own design and  others, including Fog Linen. And right next door is Corey & Co. another little jewel, where Maine designer Barbara Corey makes wonderful clothes and combines them with unique jewelry, shoes, scarves and bags. Maine pride.

Vicarious Shopping

I am still trying to deny that I feel the coming of Fall in the air. But there has to be some compensation, and it's the contemplation of new clothes, for me! Not that I'm going to actually buy many, but the urge to see what is out there is upon me. I remember when I was in high school I had a friend who would be taken to NYC every August, along with her three sisters, to shop for new school clothes. How I envied her. I would pour over the latest fashion magazines and wish I could go with them. So here's what I would pick if I could have whatever I wanted.

Visiting

This weekend we went visiting...to Sophie and Nick in Chelsea. We ate lots of great food and talked about art and went shopping, and tried to keep Oops from tearing our bed apart to find the cats he was smelling on our blowup bed linen.

A Day Out

Everything in this post is winter white! Yesterday we went up to Chases's for breakfast and then to 412 to check out what they are doing. Maine. Magazine included 412 in a great article (written by Maria Alexandra Vettese) about the comforts of home. Chase's was fab as usual...especially because there were almond croissant, and a wonderful show in the gallery. 412 is just such a beautifully realized space. Everything is all- of- a -piece and gorgeous. I could stay there all day and spend lots of money....but alas, there is reality.

Catching Up

Here is a big "catch up" post. I've been doing some of the blue pen drawings. I've been working on top of both found pages and in a couple of sketchbooks. I went to Marlene's open studio. Her studio is spare and beautifully lit by the sun that comes in from her big windows. I went to a meditation retreat and a cool shop in Peterborough, New Hampshire...The Red Chair.
