I went with friends to Swans Island in Northport, Maine today. They make blankets made from the wool of sheep that live untended on islands in the Penobscot Bay. All the dying and weaving and finishing is done right there in an old farmhouse built in 1780. The blankets are so pure and well-crafted. I would love to own one of the brown ones made from the natural wool of rare brown and black sheep. We got a tour of the new dying shed, and a demonstration of how the looms work. I was wishing all my fiber friends were with us. You can look at the Swans Island website
