Karen Margolis

For some of these works Karen Margolis uses old worn out road maps that have been watercolored and then "bored into"  using a soldering iron. There are layers of these maps set on top of each other. For the paintings on paper Margolis is exploring "what thoughts and emotions might look like in the brain". She says: "I translate my interior monologues into molecular patterns of color". The intimacy of these works is so appealing, and especially knowing what she is concerned with recording.

This is amazing, Lari!
Thank you for sharing.
So, this is paper but it doesn't get burned by soldering iron?
It looks so peaceful that I keep looking at those circles...I'm not familiar with the Japanese word "enso" for the circle. Maybe an old Buddhism term... The idea of using the material that you would never think of always amazes me!
